Death Grips - Guillotine ( it goes Yah )

This shit is awesome. Also download the album for free HERE. I can’t explain how much i Love this shit so heres the lyrics instead.

“[Hook]
It goes, it goes, it goes, it goes
Guillotine, yah

[Verse 1]
Sit in the dark and ponder how
I’m fit to make the bottom fall through the floor

And they all fall down, yah (It goes, it goes, it goes, it goes, yah)
Out of the shadows barrage of witch tongue
Cobra spit over apocalyptic cult killer cauldron smoke
Stomp music seriously, yah
(It goes, it goes, it goes, it goes)
Can’t stop the groove licks jaws clear off them locks relentless raw movement
Fit to knock you from here to that g-spot body rock connected

To everything you want, ever did want, we got it why not come get it
Stick your head in that hole and watch me drop this cold guillotine death sentence, yah, yah

[Hook]

[Verse 2]
Hidden art, between and beneath, every fragmented, figure of speech
Tongue in reverse, whenever the beat, causes my jaws to call out, yah
The screens flashing red, can’t see shit but heads
Spinning exorcist like planets out of orbit off the edge
Off mine axis whipping through doors to far more than all that’s ever been said, yah
Tie the chord kick the chair and you’re dead, yah

[Hook]

[Verse 3]
Head of a trick in a bucket, body of a trick in a bag
And thrown in the fire like fuck it, gotta burn it before it goes bad

One too many times been disgusted by the stench of rot is such a drag, yah
Get broke by the street like blood stained glass, yah
Choke on these nuts ‘til the very last, yah
(It goes, it goes, it goes, it goes)
Serial number, killing machine, the illest of means
To an end built on the filthy sound, you’re experiencing, yah

[Hook]

[Verse 4]
Tinted windows, bulletproof, the slip knot fixing rope to noose
To the grave stone grinder of cold steel, the passion that blinds me so I feel, yah
Can’t let go, no it flows through our veins
Blows through our tunnels and rattles our chains and they all fall down, yah”

baths- nordic laurel

have sex. then read this. then press play. “For mercurial Los Angeles music-maker Will Wiesenfeld, Baths has been a long time coming. The 21-year-old has spent the better part of his days living amidst “pleasant” and “unremarkable” in the suburbs of the San Fernando Valley, so perhaps it’s due to a general lack of local inspiration that Wiesenfeld’s own work has never fit into a prefab box of its own. Over the last six years, under the handle of [Post-Foetus], Wiesenfeld has gainfully explored the intersections and outer reaches of both electronic and acoustic music. With Baths, his eclecticism finds its greatest focus yet, in a hail of lush melodies, ghostly choirs, playful instrumentation and stuttering beats.

Wiesenfeld’s trip began at age 4, when he willed his parents into enrolling him in piano lessons. (The family upright, purchased that same year, sits in his bedroom today.) By 13, he’d begun recording his own music using Digital Performer and a MIDI keyboard – a brief, ill-advised foray into Eurobeat that was set right when Wiesenfeld heard Björk for the first time. Mind blown, he quickly boned up on viola, contrabass, and guitar and took the name [Post-Foetus], stringing together countless live configurations to execute his increasingly inimitable compositions. [Post-Foetus]’ fourth album – a Dntel-ish, song-based mélange dubbed The Fabric – was released on Mü-Nest in January 2010.” via last.fm

Michael Kiwanuka - I’m Getting Ready

So this is a song for those who can enjoy something a little slower Michael is an amazing song writer that seems to bring the past to the present via musical chills. When I first heard Michael I was sure I had missed out on something that had long come and long gone. However, I was wrong. These songs are those of the present, and still they are equally as pretty to me. Its definitely worth it to check out the rest of his songs, either VIA YouTube or by simply buying his album somewhere. I’m sure Steady Sounds in Richmond would have some of his Vinyl, if not they should get some. Enjoy this Richmond, and everyone else.

Heres some insight via last.fm ” Michael Kiwanuka is a British musician of Ugandan heritage who writes songs combining soul and rootsy folk influences and sings them with a deep, husky soulful voice. The Home Again Songfacts says that after signing with Communion Records, Kiwanuka recorded his debut EP, Tell Me A Tale, with the help of Paul Butler from The Bees, who took the Muswell Hill, London native to his Isle of Wight studio to record the songs. The record came to the attention of Adele who invited Kiwanuka to support her on the singing star’s 2011 European tour. The BBC announced on January 6, 2012 that Kiwanuka had won their Sound of 2012 poll, an annual survey of music critics and industry figures to find the most promising new music talent.

With Michael Kiwanuka, it’s all about the voice. A voice that he describes as “hitting straight through to the core” with direct, emotional songs about love, yearning, comfort and belonging. It’s a voice that built him a following via MySpace and small London gigs, and led Paul Butler from The Bees to invite him to the band’s Isle of Wight studio to lay down these introductory tracks. Which makes it all the more strange, really, that what Kiwanuka originally set out to be was a session guitarist who maybe wrote the odd song for other people.”

Chairlift ft Kool A.D. - crazy (beyonce cover)

Chairlift has been doing shit for Kool A.D. for a while now. This is by far the dope-est track i’ve yet to hear from them yet. The song and video are from a radio show they did a while back. I’m surprised this track hasn’t gotten more attention. Kinda reminds for of how Unknown Mortal Orchestra are just now blowing up around richmond (almost a full year since they played here at Strange Matter). Oh well, all is well, including this song. check it and check it again.

No Age - Fever Dreaming

So Kyle from Navi was telling me how much he loves when people knock his drums over while hes playing. First thing that came to mind was this gnarly No Age video where both guys are playing and dodging wind blown objects. So, next time NAVI plays a gig we should all huff and puff and blow the mother jumpers drums down. Then we’ll spill some shit, fuck should, and stop giving a fuck. Were young, lets have some fun. Im day drinking and i dont care to bullshit anymore. Here are some lyrics for this tune.

“What is it that you want to be?
I gotta go
Its in a million pieces
I gotta show you

What is it that you want to see?
I gotta know
And I’m nothing without you

What is it that you want to see?
I gotta go
Its in a trillion pieces
I gotta show you

What is it that you want to be?
I gotta go
And I’m dying without you

You only want me
When I’m gone
You only want me when I’m
Fever dreaming

What is it that you want to be?
I gotta go
Its in a million pieces
I gotta show you

What is it that you want to see?
I gotta know
And I’m dying without you

You only want me
When I’m gone
You only want me when I’m
Fever dreaming”

Mirror Kisses - Kameron

So Mirror Kisses came to Richmond Virginia and it was slightly awesome. They showed up and played with Wolf/Goat, Flossed In Paradise, and Pink Laces at a secret spot. I don’t really want to talk about why the show ‘wasn’t’ awesome but it had nothing to do with the music or the bands. They all killed it. But I really just want to spread the word of Mirror Kisses to and around the world. This is a good video to start with if you don’t really know who exactly Mirror Kisses are. Think 80’s love pop. Think sex. Think kisses. Hopefully damn soon Mirror Kisses will come back to Richmond and show us some more love lights and tunes. Keep it classy and check back here. t4t4t4t is the new r4t4t4t and things will be popping off on here. Thanks for all the support and love. - Brad

Weekend Wolves - Karma

This track has been on my mind for the entirety of the week and that’s fantastic. Its been a rough week here in RVA. Time are tough everywhere, but who cares the tunes can still bump. Weekend Wolves is mysterious as hell. I don’t know who they are. I don’t know where they came from. I don’t know where to get the album. All that i actually know is that they have a bandcamp and that all of their tunes rule. just listen to this track. The visuals from the music video are from a bicycle safety video from the late 60’s. Its interesting to say the least, however this footage has been used in other music video’s such as Boards of Canada - Everything you do is a balloon.

pure x - surface

there is such a thing as ‘good music” even when your tired and feeling droned. ATTENTION STONER, this is your tune. Dig it deep.. You don’t know what ‘witchhouse’ is? Good, neither do I. Genre, is just a less than informative word which stands for ‘classification.’ No use in remembering that. Just listen

Matta - Release The Freq

I LOVE DEER. I (usually) HATE DUBSTEP. Dubstep to me has always been decent. You can’t argue with me that most dubstep sounds like the rest of dubstep. However, if you throw some fucking deer in there, add some amazing Adobe After effects, and saturate your video just perfectly, then you got me watching. This is the first dubstep video / artist Im posting on here about, and thats for good reason. THE DEER. Reminds, me of living in NJ where deer cross roads more than trannys cross dress clothing. Just watch this ish. Its awesome. Turn up your speakers also. Take some drugs. Call the bitties up and ask em’ to come over. Now its on. Chicken Bone Nowison.

Dom - Living In America

baby!“It’s so sexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxy living in AMERICA.” The world is a rough place these days with all the Occupy jazz hitting the fan here, their, and everywhere. Kids and Grandmothers a ike taking tear gas to the face like its a fake cum shot in a all too common shitty porn series. Well we don’t have to worry about all that nonsense because r4t4t4t is a musik blog, not the huffingtonpost. Today we have… Dom. Dom is a pretty fun band my buddy Andrew has been playing here and their when I come kick it at his place. I don’t really know much about where they’re from or what they do for a living or anything special like that. Just that they have a really poppy sound that seems to take the edge off and make slightly shitty afternoons shift into a different light. If you like em, love em. If you hate it and its too cool for you, hate it hater.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra ffunny ffriends

strange matter in richmond has always been a favorite spot to catch good bands. just the problem with this is… i haven’t been all that much into the bands that have been playing there as of recent. I’m not saying the bands that have played aren’t any good just it either doesnt fit my taste or im too ignorant to know who they are in the first place. Anyways, my bud has been playing this around from time to time and fortunately they are going to play strange matter, richmond, tuesday oct 18th. stoked and see you there.

Generationals - Trust

Here’s another band that I just sort of stumbled on top of. Im every bit stoked about it. the hook from this song was stuck in my head practically the whole time me and some buddies went to 42nd st on the james in richmond va to hang and drink and all that tom follerie. it didn’t help that we all keep humming the tune both outloud and in our heads. Well, I’m tired so I’m not gonna drag on and on. But check this, its cool, i think. The video isn’t anything worth anything but who cares. sometimes_its_just_about_the_music

Harlem - Friendly Ghost

So the other day while relaxing enjoying a bloody mary or two and some beer and some more beer at Strange Matter I had the urge to hear some Harlem. If you don’t know who Harlem is this is probably the most important link you’l click on a musik blog for a good long while. This shit is sex to my ears, auditory orgasm type shit, surf rock babes sexing good looking punks on top of a mountain… a golden mountain. My best friend and ex roommate downloaded these guys off the internet when he first moved into ‘the ship’ (my old stomping grounds). I don’t think he realized just how crazy i’d get about this band from Austin Texas. Unfortunately (I got way off topic), at Smatter while listening to this track, a gentleman came and starting chatting with me about how ‘Harlem’ was no longer a band and that the bassist had quit Harlem and joined forces with himself for a new project (its either a really small world or this man was full of shit). Either way I don’t care and I forget the name of his so called new project (probably because of the drinks). Anyways enjoy the track and smile. I LIVE IN A GRAVEYAAAAAARD
